The fishing in the Tuggerah Lakes system is firing at the moment with flathead, bream, half decent hauls of prawns and heaps of whiting filling fishermens creels.

nutcracker (445 x 600)
Nutcracker with a bag full

There is also chopper tailor available although you have to catch 20 of them before you get a legal one they are still good fun on small slice lures.

fillets (600 x 445)
Witing fillets-YUM!
I witnessed some guy's out in a boat in the north channel absolutley braining the flatties on SP's with one coming in just about every cast and some good sized ones amongst them too!

There has been the odd jewie caught on the North Entrance beach although they are mainly schoolies.

I fished with my mate 'nut cracker' Gaz and we cleaned up on the whiting over the last weekend, catching about 30 between us just from the shore whilst having a beer! Didn't see the need for a boat when we doing so well in our lazy weekend spot. Probably would have doubled the catch in a boat though we're not greedy.

bag full (600 x 445)

Mixed in with the whiting where some flounder and flatties (which we surely would've caught more of using the right bait or SP's) and some just legal bream. The whiting were all caught on shrimp, a much underrated bait.

Till next time
