Jason tests out the new R32 Natural Wonder.
Regular contributor to newsreel, Jason Medcalf recently tore himself away from his rapidly growing family and Bundaberg hardware store recently to try out a few new colours recently released by Halco Tackle.

A few hours later Jason was happy to report that the new colours were working just fine for him with a great session on the Burnett River Mangrove Jack population.

Laser Pro 120s were the lure of choice that day but great reports on the colours have come from others that have already got their hands on the newest arrivals in the Halco stable.

The new R32 Natural Wonder colour in particular has been extremely successful since it’s introduction earlier this year. As its name implies the R32 has been a winner in creeks and rivers from Queensland to Tasmania.

It’s been a stellar couple of years for Halco and its mounting record tally, with no signs of a slow down in sight. This time British angler Oliver King was lucky enough to hook and land a 36kg Wahoo on 10kg line to claim a new European line class and all tackle record.

The magnificent Wahoo was taken recently off the Portuguese Island of Madeira on well known Australian skipper Peter Bristow’s boat Katherine B.

The big Wahoo took a trolled Laser Pro 160DD in R15 Chrome Pink colour and was boated after a spirited fight to the delight of all on board.

Peter Bristow said the Laser Pro 160s have been head and shoulders his best Wahoo lure this season recently putting an SOS into Halco for some replacement lures after getting down to his last few Laser Pros.

Laser Pro 160DDs are a very versatile lure that can be trolled at quite a fast pace making it an ideal lure for those targeting the speedy predators. Just remember to rig the lure on wire Halco’s Supa Snap Traces if chasing Wahoo or other toothy species.

Big Black Bass
Nice big Black Bass
In some recent correspondence received in the dead of winter by Halco, Iwan from East Borneo got some attention with images of some bruising Black Bass he caught in his local river systems on Scorpion 125s. Also in the mix were some stud Mangrove Jacks just to keep everyone fishing on their toes. Following his success, Iwan put his friends onto the Scorpion 125 and since that time, the majority of fishermen in his area have gone across to Scorpions, even at the expense of traditional techniques including bait fishing.

Recently Iwan emailed the boys at Halco letting them know that he had just caught his first Barramundi that came in at a massive 21 kilos, also on a Scorpion 125. It is not hard to see why he is now wearing a permanent smile.
