In the lake's the flatties have started to show up in numbers and their sizes are very mixed at the present time. I have seen and caught some nice sized specimens around the
55-60cm's mark but have hit patches of under legals that are still a bit of fun on plastics. One softie that I have found very successful is the flick bait style and this over the last couple of weeks has accounted for heaps of the flat one. The bream are around and are starting to come out of the creeks and inhabit the lower estuaries and beaches/rocks and although not in great numbers there are some sizable specimens out there. Blackfishermen have found it hard going in the lake as well as this is the traditional time that they slow down and start to move out to the ocean. Had a nice but a bit strange mix of species the other night on the beach with a flattie, a salmon, a trevally, a sting ray and a lost big thing(thinking it was a shark). Haven't managed a Jew for a while but there have been a few caught, mainly schoolies. A few prawns have showed on the last dark moon with catches close to a kilo and this hopefully is the precurser to a great season. The big winter whiting have slowed up with alot more smaller but legal ones and it is coming up to the time to target them on the beach. Will report soon, hopefully with news of ripper flatties as they should become more common real soon .© 2005 Spooled Pty. Ltd. Page generated: Fri, Aug 29, 2008 12:55 pm
