▲TopLocal Knowledge - Craig McGill’s DVD – Reviewed

LK cover
Craig McGill is a name synonymous with fishing. A master in his field. It is no surprise then that his latest DVD Local Knowledge is an outstanding work and an absolute credit to both himself and Peter Clark who directed it.

I have been fortunate enough to have fished with Craig on a few occasions now and have always taken away more knowledge then I began with. Craig covers more in 80 minutes then you could learn from a year on the water.

Visually spectacular, a good use of the camera coupled with excellent editing has resulted in a piece that is engaging from start to finish. The audio arrangement has only complemented the work as opposed to being out of place, over-bearing or just down right frustrating as is seen on many fishing DVD’s.

There is a great group of identities contributing to the show including AL Bellissimo, Jewie Jim Siarakas, Peter Rolff, Jack Hannan and Chris 'Mango' Ward. This really adds to the overall feel of the production and gives the viewer an excellent knowledge base to start or enhance their Jewfish fishing.

While the entire DVD isn’t about Jewfish, by far the majority of the DVD, focuses on how to catch the larger fish, specifically targeting big jews. Not to be discounted though is the information on Whiting techniques, Surgeon fish, Blackfish (Ludderick) and more. Covering both land based and boat fishing options.

The “Extra’s” section contains some funny and light out takes. As well as a bonza Black and Spot-Tailed Bass story, shot at Bia Lodge, Papau New Guinea which will have you drooling.

Local Knowledge is a work that would definitely need to be watched multiple times to take in all that can be learnt from this DVD. Allowing you to refine your practices and convert more fish.

▲TopConclusion

If I could fault the DVD at all. It would be in the lack of a “Play All” feature for the “Extras” section, thus requiring the viewer to scroll to the next story. I hear you all now – Your Kidding! While it of course is not worth mentioning, it is still the only place I could fault this brilliant production.

▲TopA sensational production, worth every cent.
