I went fishing last weekend but had a shit trip and caught 1 carp that was it so i didn't bother with a report. I did meet a few blokes at the boatramp who saw my spooled T shirt and said they would come and check us out.

dicko I've been popping stories to try to win a prize. What happened to the best report in the next 5 days comp?

No sweat Spooled,

by the way if we go fishing and they're just not biting, should we still stick in a report? I don't think anyone really wants to know about bad trips.

Hey dicko, I think you should post the ones that you don't catch anything, just so I don't feel as I'm the only one not catching anything, as well LOL

LOL Daz,

You might get sick of hearing about it. Ha Ha since the start of winter most of my trips have been fishless. By the way I recon we should have a carp fishing contest on here. They are by far the easiest thing to catch out here.

G'day Dicko,

Definately post even if you have not caught anything. The site was designed to be a Fishing Diary so to speak. So by entering the reports on the Map you can look back at the area you want to fish and see how that area has been fishing.

We are actually in the middle of upgrades. The site is all logged via GPS so when you enter Co-ordinates or the area you were you were fishing it should be a true indication of that area. We are adding weather info eventually ($$$ is our only problem there - the site owes me 1/2 a house - literally). We will eventually be adding Tidal information, rainfall, temperature, wind speed etc etc including River Heights - this will all be available when you click on or go to an area on the map).

All info will show for that area along with the present and past weather data (not off site - on the BOM - ON SPOOLED) with this info will be all the icons of the reports you have all entered and when they where logged to give you a very good idea of how that area has been fishing season to season.

What do you think :) We like it......

Now all we need is the additional $$$ to buy the data subscription. The infrastructure to deal with the data is mostly built - just needs finishing touches.

You realize it only works though if you enter the reports of your trips AS REPORTS. Not in the forums.

Spooled was literally designed because I was sick of having to waded through massively long forums (and mostly useless information) to find anything useful on a particular fishing location.

PS:- Once entered as "Reports" - when entering they also have to be entered onto the map. Even if you didn't have a sounder/GPS you select the location from the MAP and away you go.

In 10 years you will have one of the most comprehensive fishing diary's EVER seen. and better yet it is public knowledge. You can actually save it as private too. if you want to keep your own private diary's of your own private area's too.

But it was made for everyone to take advantage of. That is why it was really frustrating that in the early years of Spooled (We are 5 years old now) nobody used the site. Everyone was scared of it because it was new. As far as we are aware Spooled is still the most advanced fishing website in the world.

Hey All,

Daz, I think the end of winter made many fisho's go home fishless, at least I was throughout the whole of winter- now it is warming up I reckon we will start to see more posts on the site. I havent submitted any reports myself cause I just havent been fishing- but I did manage to get out on a charter from Shoalhaven heads a few weeks ago- it was a blast and we took home 48 fish between 5 of us... the biggest fish were a 58cm Snapper and a 55cm Sand Flathead. Here is the link to the piccies, I have just completed a report on it, check them out if you want (WARNING: piccies are compressed so they are a little pixelated) http://www.spooled.com.au/gallery:233

I can also add that other other fishing sites I subscribe to have had less than average fishing reports after the end of winter, but the last month or so since the weather has warmed up everyone is jumping up and getting out and about and there are fish to be caught in many areas of NSW from what I have read.

Hopefully in the next few weeks up to Xmas I can get out to local beaches and see what is happening, but this time I will port regardlesss if I get anything or not.

Anyway, tight lines all

Cheers Ant74

Wow Spooled, that sounds awesome. The master plan behind it all is great. I'd definately be looking up past years info if it was there. The river here is very hard to read because it's controlled mostly by the Dam. So when the water goes up the water temp goes down. Doesn't do much for the fishing. The rain has been so few and far between that I haven't been able to work out the best times to go fishing yet. Not properly anyway. I'll keep sticking those reports in ..

Dicko..
