Has anyone had the opportunity at Winter Bass this year?

Not me, but there are a few guys going up to St Clair this weekend I believe, will see how they go, if their boats can get into the water given the dam levels.

I generally fish the Gross Vale River even in the cooler month's. We usually get a few. Prefer to fish with Fly normally but haven't had chance this winter.

Failing that we have a paddle in the Hawkesbury River.

Bassman just read your reports, and although Ive never fished these locations (have'nt done much freshwater fishing), I would like to in the future. So keep up the good work. Do you ever fish any further down the river, like around Maitland, or do you just stay up Muswellbrook way?

We use Dahlbergs too, as well as clousers and shrimp patterns in assorted coulours. It depends more on the time of day we are fishing though. As Winter Bass will still take Cicada patterns off the surface in the evening. Although there are not nearly as mainly hits as in Summer.

We still pick a higher Barometer day if I can help it.

G'day Billy (wishnwasfishn),

I dont know the exact colour name. But the bug is like a dark greenie/grey and has a redish holigrachic flash to it. Hope this helped. I generally find dark coloured lures in general work pretty good of an evening on the Nepean.

Basscaders lures work ok too.

Fizzers or Fizzers imitations (by Producer) are good too. Basscaders and jitterbugs usually work pretty good as well

Really looking forward to this coming season. We have had a lot more water in the Nepean and quite a few mini floods. I would love to see the times of old.

We used to catch and release 120 Bass a day (that was our best day but still big numbers were very common 6-8 years ago).

We could do with one more big flush just before Dec to allow the migration back to the fresh for them.
