with the cold weather around latley it has been very hard to catch many fish in the local rivers in NE vic but after some nagging from one of the boys i was persuaded to give lake mulwala a try and i am glad i did. I managed to land about 20 fish for the day 18 redfin all at about 1 pound and 2 cod one 53 cm and another 120 cm was the best day of total lure fishing i have ever had all cod were released and kept a couple of redfin for the barbie all fish including the cod were caught on a small brown trout pattern poltergiest lure has anyone else had any success latley if so let us know tight lines and remember to be conservitive with our wonderfull natives regards Lewie |

Hi Lewie, I live in Wodonga and noticed a few guys missing on the building sites. I later found out that most of them were down a mulwala. Over a period of a three weeks, it was great fishing due to the fact that water releases were reduced from Lake Hume. Mulwala went down to about 25% and there was only one ramp in and it was busy. Over 5 trips, I saw more than 100 cod caught and released from our boat and other friends boats. It was hard to go 10 minutes without seeing a boat stopping and dragging in a cod or redfin. Now the weather has cooled and the water has dropped t oabout 15% they ahve gone off a bit, but for a few weeks it was unbeleiveable. Most fish were caught earl in the morning prior t o 10am tralling spinnerbaits or hard bodied lures in 10 - 20 ft of water. |
