Each year for the weeks leading up to Easter I spend a lot of time and effort getting my boat and gear ready for the Ellie season on Westernport bay. I have been intrigued by the silky "mother of pearl like skin", huge glistening eyes and strange trunk like nose of the Elephant shark / fish for many years since catching my first one. It was only very small and I had never seen anything like it, it looked so alien so I set it free. I then went on to find out as much as I could about these alien like fish and have been hooked on them ever since. For a week every Easter I head down to our onsite van at Lang Lang on the beautifull Westernport bay and fish for Elephant shark using light gear, Ive tried most methods fishing for them but have found that its greater fun using light gear, I also want to try SPs this season. Even though theres a 3 fish per person limit on Ellies I only take home one per day, I just wanna do my bit to make sure these majestic fish are around for many many more seasons to come so my grandsons can experience what I have. Of all the things I have ever lost its my mind I miss the most.
