I primarily fish for Bass. So my favorite fly is the Dahlberg Diver. The reason is it is the most effective fly I have found when Bass are feeding off the surface.

Pike would take them too though wouldn't they?

Yeah Rick pike will take 'em but only small ones (called jacks)

The pike guys over here use big flourecent flies that don't resemble anything living, but the pike take 'em.

My favourite fly is a big bloody mouse thing. It was a ridiculously large bass fly that a mate had tied for me. It looked great but it was not like casting a fly made of deer hair it was more like casting the whole damn deer! Anyhow it remains my favourite as it caught my biggest bass on fly ever-51cms. Great fun.
